APW is pleased to announce that three Maasai children from the village of Loibor Siret have become the first recipients of our new Noloholo Youth Environmental Scholarship Program. Students have received full tuition to the Moringe Private School outside of Arusha in the town of Monduli. Click here to read more about our Environmental Scholarships.

We are thrilled to announce that the Regina Bauer Frankenberg Foundation has awarded APW a generous two year grant to support our Maasailand Lion Conservation Program. With this competitive award, we will make important headway during 2010 and 2011 in the areas of lion-livestock conflict prevention, habitat protection and conservation education. We are very grateful for this significant award!

We are very pleased to announce that the Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund has awarded a grant to APW for our unique Living Walls project, a component of APW's Maasailand Lion Conservation Program. This support will help APW to establish a cost-sharing mechanism for individual participation in the project, install many new Living Walls and provide crucial funding for APW's Maasai lion-livestock conflict team. We are very grateful for this important grant and acknowledgement of the significance of our work!

Following up on a story reporting the illegal use of the pesiticide, Furadan, for the poisoning of lions in Kenya, 60 Minutes producer Drew Magratten contacted APW's Maasailand Lion Conservation Program to assess the use of the destructive chemical in Tanzania. Unfortunately, our team found Furadan readily available in Tanzania and widely known as an effective predator killer. To read the full story, click here.

We are pleased to announce that the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund has allocated important funding to APW's Maasai Steppe Conservation Education Program for a second year. With conservation funding at an all-time low and grants more difficult than ever to procure, APW is proud to be recognized among the 18% of total applicants funded. We wish to express our sincere thanks for this support and continued acknowledgement of the importance of our work!

The village of Loibor Siret, where APW's Noloholo Environmental Center is located, has been chosen as a regional  center of attention for the celebration of World Environment Day in Tanzania. Plans for the day may include a riverside clean-up by Loibor Siret's primary schoolchildren, a tour of the Noloholo Environmental Center, and the distribution of APW's conservation workbook, "Your Village Environment."

APW is pleased to announce that a milestone has been reached in our major building initiative at the Noloholo Environmental Center! The Noloholo Educational Facility, a large complex including a classroom, conference room, general purpose room and staff offices, has been completed on the Noloholo Environmental Center grounds!
